Kean to investigate fan bust-up at Rovers

Blackburn manager Steve Kean has pledged to investigate claims his new assistant clashed with a Rovers supporter during their Carling Cup in nover Newcastle.

Angry fans claim Paul Clement got involved in a four-letter laden row with spectators who were questioning the tactics of under-fire Kean during the game.

But club insiders insist he was only voicing his displeasure at some industrial language being aimed in Kean’s direction.

The Rovers manager has become a target for disgruntled fans following a start to the season that has left Blackburn sat at the bottom of the Premier League.

Kean is refusing to brush the issue under the carpet though.

He said: “I was not aware of that, but I will certainly investigate it. I spent most of my time on the edge of the technical area.

“If anything occurred I will certainly investigate it and speak with John Newsham, who is our safety officer, to make sure that nothing untoward happened.”

Rovers won the match 4-3 after extra time to reach the quarter-finals.
