Kirkland suffers new deal blow

Chris Kirkland is unlikely to land a new contract at Wigan when his deal expires in the summer.
Manager Roberto Martinez is considering letting the injury-jinxed keeper leave so he can play regular football.

The 30-year-old is fighting his way back to fitness once again following a back spasm that saw a loan spell at Doncaster cut short.

Martinez said: 'I can't wait to see Chris playing and enjoying his football but at the moment the competition here is very strong. We need to assess the situation.'
