N'Zogbia promised - Wigan game will be no grudge match

WIGAN SKIPPER GARY CALDWELL HAS PROMISED FORMER LATIC CHARLES N’ZOGBIA HIS FIRST CLASH AGAINST HIS OLD CLUB WILL NOT TURN INTO A GRUDGE MATCH.

N'Zogbia switched to Aston Villa in the summer having scored 15 goals in 83 games for the Latics in a three year stint.

The French winger made it abundantly clear he wanted to quit Wigan before finally landing a £9m switch.

But cool-headed Caldwell insists his stance has not made him a marked man in the Latics dressing room.

He said: ``Charles was a fantastic player for this club, but the time came for him to leave and go on to a different challenge in his career.

``We all know how good a player he is and we’ll have to be wary of him on Saturday.

``He’ll be up for it because playing against your old club is always exciting and a big challenge.

``But it’s not just Charles we have to worry about. Villa are a very good attacking side, with a lot of pace about them, and we’ll be trying to control the game and imposing our way of playing on them.''
