Bolton star says it's too early to ditch Coyle

Bolton defender David Wheater insists it is too early to panic and ditch boss Owen Coyle.

The Trotters have lost eight of their last nine games in a downward spiral that has left them second from bottom of the Premier League.

But Bolton's players are backing Coyle's ability to get them out of trouble.

Wheater said: ``It’s still early doors. If it was March or April then we would be worrying but we know we have the players and the right manager and coaching staff to get out of it.''

The former Middlesbrough man reckons some of his team-mates are guilty of letting Coyle down though.

He added: ``The manager has given players a chance and they just haven’t taken it.

``Players need to take their chances. I’ve done enough to stay in the team but others need to come in and do their jobs.

``It’s a big challenge. We need to pick ourselves up and pick up our game. We need to be a team, stick together and play as we know we can.”
