Arsenal and Liverpool target stalling on deal

Wigan have told Hugo Rodallega their contract offer is going to be pulled if he does not sign it in the next six weeks.

The striker's current deal runs out in the summer and the Latics are desperate to tie him to a new deal.

But the Colombian is dragging his heels with Wigan looking relegation candidates and the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal tracking him.

Chief executive Jonathan Jackson knows Rodallega can talk to rivals from January 1 and wants a deal tied up by then.

He said: ``I wouldn’t want to put too concrete a timescale on it, but we’d certainly want it resolved before the January transfer window.

``We are still talking with Hugo’s agent, and I would say the talks are currently at a delicate stage

``It’s not been easy with his agent being over in Colombia, but things are ongoing which I think is positive.

``Hugo’s assessing his options at the moment, which he is entitled to do, but we all remain hopeful that he will stay at Wigan Athletic .

``I don’t want to go into the finer points, but the issue is not a money situation.

``It’s more about where Hugo sees his future, and that’s what he’s been considering.''
