Elliott up for do-or-die European battle

Wade Elliott is relishing Birmingham's do-or-die battle to progress in the Europa League.

The Blues face last season's runners-up Braga tonight in a must-win encounter with three teams in Group H on seven points.

With Club Brugge expected to beat whipping boys NK Maribor this evening, a defeat for Birmingham would leave them struggling to get through the group stage.

Elliott said: ``We could get ten points and still not go through, which is unusual in this competition.

``There are three of us on seven points so it is going to the wire. But it is brilliant having something to play for.

``The last thing we would have wanted was dead rubbers and playing out games.''

Elliott is enjoying a European adventure at the age of 32 that he believed had passed him by.

He added: ``Unless you play for the big four or five teams in England it is rare to get a season in Europe.

``I have really enjoyed it going abroad and learning about new ways to play and new players.

``We have a great trip to Braga who were in the final last year and if you can't be excited by that kind of thing, you are in the wrong game.''
