Ferguson urges United not to be complacent in Europe

Alex Ferguson is urging his players not to be over confident when facing Romanian minnows Galati on Wednesday at Old Trafford.

The Reds manager has not forgotten United's embarrassing slip up in their last European home game.

In that match Basel looked were on course for a shock 3-2 win until Ashley Young netted a last gasp equaliser.

And that came after the Reds went 2-0 up through a Danny Welbeck double in the opening 17 minutes of the match.

Ferguson said: ``If you are complacent you deserve to be punished, and we were punished by Basel.

``It was a reminder and a wake-up call that you cannot take these games lightly.

``You can look at last season when we had that lead from the first leg against Schalke in the semi-final.

``In the second leg we went right out to put the tie to rest, without any hesitation.

``Nobody was thinking, `We won away from home, we're in the final'. That's the attitude you need in all these games.''
