Klasnic claims Stoke curse has been lifted

Striker Ivan Klasnic reckons beating Stoke on Sunday has lifted the curse that afflicted Bolton after their humiliating 5-0 FA Cup semi-final by the Potters last April.

The Trotters lost 13 of their next 16 league games after being humbled by Tony Pulis' men at Wembley.

But they grabbed revenge by thrashing Stoke by an identical scoreline at the Reebok.

And Klasnic is convinced that result has finally released the albatross from their neck.

He said: ``All the negativity started with Stoke when we lost 5-0 in the FA Cup semi-final.

``I said this was a game we needed to win and change from the negative to the positive. I hope it is a good sign for us.''

Now the Croat is pushing his team-mates to produce a better campaign than last year's impressive effort, when they looked like Europa League contenders until the late season collapse.

He added: ``I think we have a great team. At the moment we are at the bottom but we are better than where we are in the table.

``We want to do better than last season. We have nine points now and we need to go on.”
