Parker Is Best Signing of the Season - Says Pulis

Scott Parker has been hailed as the signing of the season by the man he snubbed in the summer.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis was desperate to land the England midfielder when West Ham made it plain he could move back to the Premier League in August.

Despite Pulis’ attempts to lure him to the midlands, Parker rejected a switch to the Britannia Stadium and joined Tottenham instead.

The frustrated Potters chief has watched on as the 31-year-old has linked up superbly with Luka Modric in Spurs’ midfield to lead their charge up the table.

Pulis said: “If there is one signing this year, and there has been some great signings when you think of Sergio Aguero and others, he has been the best. Harry has pulled one off there.

“We made a tentative enquiry. Scott was keen to stay in London because of his family and we understood that.

“But you have to credit Spurs. He has been pound-for-pound the best signing this season.

``He has been the glue that has made the Spurs team a better team.''

Parker's resurgence has also ensured him a starting spot in Fabio Capello's side for next summer's Euros.

And Pulis added: ``I am pleased he has done well for England. He has been professional at every club he has been at.''

The Stoke chief is refusing to rule out the idea of Peter Crouch joining Parker in Capello's squad for Poland and the Ukraine.

The striker goes up against his old club tomorrow with Pulis hailing his influence on Stoke's attacking powers.

He added: ``Peter has been brilliant. If you looks at his stats they have been fantastic - running, the touches he gets, the number of times he keeps the ball. He has just been outstanding.

``I am not telling Fabio Capello who to pick and he knows Peter. He has had him with him on numerous occasions in the England squad.

``But if Peter scores lots of goals between now and the end of the season anything can happen.''
