Chelsea And Arsenal Put On Alert Over Wonderkid

Chelsea and Arsenal have been put on alert after Crewe boss Steve Davis admitted prize asset Nick Powell can quit in the transfer window.

Both clubs have been tracking the teenager since he broke into the Alex's first team last season.

And with Crewe making a loss of £800,000 last year, Davis admits Powell may have to be sold to balance the books.

He said: `` Nick will have caught the eye with his performances over the last six weeks.

``I'm sure if a good offer was to come in we'd be interested.

``I want to keep the squad I've got, but I'm not in control of that.

``If a club comes in and offers money we're happy with then we know we've got to balance the books, although from my point of view I hope the transfer window passes us by.''
