Phillips Told To Wait Until Big Guns Come Calling

Ian Holloway has urged Matty Phillips to wait for Manchester United to come calling before quitting Blackpool.

The England under-20 winger is in red hot form having smashed two hat-tricks in his last four games.

And that has brought scouts from top flights clubs flocking to Bloomfield Road to check out the 20-year-old.

But his boss wants Phillips to forget about moving on until one of the Premier League's big guns come calling.

He advised Charlie Adam to do the same and the Scot was rewarded with a summer move to Liverpool.

Holloway said: ``Matty is a wonderful lad. He never sulks, he has bags of potential and I believe he will go to one of the top four or five teams one day.

``But until that happens I want to keep working with him because I believe we can be as good as the other also-rans in the Premier League.

``People can come and ask about him, but until he gets into one of the top four or five clubs he is better off staying with us, where he can play every week.''

Holloway is convinced the £325,000 capture from Wycombe back in August 2010 is now one of the top dogs in the Championship.

He added: ``Matty’s confidence is sky-high, and I’m not surprised others want him because I don’t think there are many better players in the Championship at the moment.''
