Spurs Defender Wanted In France

Spurs defender Sebastien Bassong is being targeted for a loan move by French side Lille.

The Cameroon international is frustrated at his lack of first team action at White Hart Lane.

And Lille will try to persuade him to return to France by promising regular action and a move in the summer if he impresses.

They have a hole to fill in their defence having lost Marko Basa to injury. A bid for Bordeaux defender Michael Ciani was rejected and now they have turned their attention to Bassong.

The 25-year-old joined Spurs from Newcastle in 2009 in an £8.5m switch but is behind Michael Dawson, William Gallas and Younes Kaboul in the pecking order.

Lyon are also looking for a stopper and could make a move for the Bassong, who impressed for Metz in the French league before moving to St James' Park.
