Bolton Defender Wants To Continue Perfect Cup Record

Bolton defender Marcos Alonso wants to continue his perfect FA Cup record - now he's fit again.

The young Spaniard has a hat-trick of wins in FA Cup ties, helping keep a clean sheet in all three games.

Those victories came over York City, Wigan Athletic and Fulham as Bolton enjoyed a run to the semi-final last term.

And Alonso is ready to spark more cup heroics in Saturday's clash with Spurs having recovered from a foot injury that kept him out for three months.

He said: ``That's a nice record to have. I wasn't really aware that we hadn't conceded any goals in the FA Cup when I had been playing.

``For me, to play in the competition last season was a great experience and I learnt a lot about football in England. It's one of the world's greatest competitions.

``We were all disappointed with the way we lost in the semi-final at Wembley last season.

``Even though people may say we are more focussed on the league, that doesn't mean we'll be taking the weekend's game against Tottenham lightly.

``We want to win and get to Wembley again. I'd love to be involved against Tottenham, but for now we'll just have to wait and see."

Alonso has played two reserve games to prove his fitness ahead of the cup clash.

And he added: ``Overall I feel really good and the foot feels great. These last two reserve games were exactly what I needed. I feel a lot more confident now in my foot and my fitness.''
