Anderson: I'm Over My Manchester United Injury Hell

Manchester United midfielder Anderson reckons he's found a way to solve his own injury crisis.

The Brazilian has spent as much time on the treatment bench as he has on the pitch in recent years.

He managed just over 11 hours of Premier League action last season as he battled knee and hamstring injuries.

But now Anderson is refusing to push his body to breaking point in a bid to stay fit.

He said: "I'm really trying to look after myself and get as fit as I can.

"In the past I might have had the odd niggle but just wanted to keep playing. Eventually though, that caught up with me.

"I understand now that if I'm not 100 per cent fit then I have to wait because I will still get opportunities.

"It's hard because as a footballer you don't want to miss any games but in the past I've tried to push myself and have ended up with more injury problems.

"I now understand that I need to be completely right."

Anderson can expect plenty of action following the news Shinji Kagawa is out of action with a knee injury.

He has stood in for the Japan star in recent games and caught the eye with a stunning strike at Newcastle.

Anderson added: "I think my goal against Newcastle is the best goal I have scored for United.

"After my injuries last season, it was a great moment. I felt a lot of relief and joy and it nice to celebrate with my team-mates because they know how much I love this club and want to succeed here."
