Michael Brown Can't Understand Capital One Cup Snub

Leeds midfielder Michael Brown can't understand why big clubs refuse to take the Capital One Cup seriously.

Brown helped United beat an understrength Everton team in the last round and is hoping to add a weakened Saints side to his scalps tonight.

He said: "I love the cups. Sometimes teams can take the cups a bit lightly and before you know it, the chance of a run has gone.

"But I personally love a good cup run. I know David Moyes made a few changes against us in the last round but he was sick afterwards that Everton had lost.

Brown reckons another giant-killing tonight could fire up Leeds faltering promotion bid.

And he is gunning for Nigel Adkins struggling side, believing victory will help Leeds regain their league form after winning just once in five games.

He added: "Doing well in one of the cups brings out a good vibe at a club.

"Our win over Everton in the last round was one of those special nights that you never forget.

"It would be great to beat Southampton and go that bit further and if we can do that it can only help us in the league.

"Look what happened after the Everton win, we took four points from two tough away games and it could have been six."
