Richie Wellens Ready To Dig Deep With Tractor Boys

Richie Wellens
Loan signing Richie Wellens is convinced he can help Ipswich escape their nightmare scrap at the bottom of the Championship.

The midfielder, 32, switched from Leicester in time to face Cardiff tomorrow.

And he hopes to be the catalyst in a Tractor Boys' revival.

He said: "We're down at the bottom of the league at the minute but there are some good players here in the squad so I'm sure the position will soon change."

Former Foxes skipper Wellens revealed he had the pick of the Championship when asking to go out on loan but fancied a stint at Ipswich.

He added: "I've been looking to go out on loan and when the opportunity arose to come to Ipswich, I didn't have to think twice.

"Leicester wanted me to go out on loan and when they showed me the list of clubs that I could go to, Ipswich stood out."

"I need start playing games again after my injury and this is a great opportunity to do that. It's a nice club and I've always enjoyed playing at Portman Road."
