Cristiano Ronaldo Backs Manchester United For Title Win

Cristiano RonaldoCristiano Ronaldo is convinced Manchester United are going to win back their Premier League title.

The Portuguese star got a close look at the Reds' rivals for the crown when Real Madrid drew with Manchester City on Wednesday.

And having seen the Blues struggle once again in Europe, made him more certain than ever that his old club are in the box seat to regain their mantle as the best team in England.

Ronaldo said: "I still watch the Premier league and it is the most competitive league in the world in my opinion - even ahead of Spain.

"It is brilliant, you have a lot of brilliant players here and the league is so intense. It’s amazing and I watch it in my house every week.

"There are three or four teams who can perhaps win the League which is why it is the most competitive anywhere in the world.

"It will be tough for every team but I think United will do it this year and win their title back.”

Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 games for United before engineering a move to his boyhood heroes Real Madrid in 2009.

And he took time out from preparing for the Champions League clash with City to catch up with old friends.

He added: “I enjoyed coming back to Manchester. When we arrived at the airport I was so happy I had a beautiful story here in Manchester so it was nice to see all the fans and a few Manchester United shirts too – it was a brilliant moment and I am always happy to be here.

“I met Alex Ferguson as well. He came to the hotel to speak with Jose Mourinho and of course I spoke with him too which was nice to see him again.

“We didn’t speak about my future. We just spoke about what is happening with him at Manchester United and me at Real Madrid. We were just happy to see each other."
