Lionel Messi Would Fancy This Derby says Chicharito

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez reckons even Lionel Messi would fancy kitting up for today's clash with Liverpool.

The Mexican insists despite the Anfield mob's recent poor performances in the league, the romantic fixture is still a massive pull on the world stage.

And he believes any footballer who loves playing would want to feature in the matchup between two of the biggest names in the game.

Hernandez said: "It’s a derby game and these two teams have won the most titles in England.

"It’s a match you want to be involved in. Every player wants to play on Sunday – any player in the world would want to be a part of it.”

Hernandez is expected to start because of an injury to Wayne Rooney and intends to improve on his record of two goals in five games against the Merseyside outfit.

His first against the Reds came in a 3-1 defeat at Anfield in March 2011, while his second was more rewarding as he netted late on to snatch a point later that year.

He added: "When we lost 3-1 it was a strange feeling for me.

"It was my first season and to score against Liverpool at Anfield was good, but it doesn’t have the same taste when you lose.

"It was different when I scored in the 1-1 draw because we were losing and we got a point. It’s a brilliant feeling to score in this game.”
