Steve Morison Deal Was Smart, Says Neil Warnock

Leeds United
Neil Warnock insists he did not sign a dud when taking Steve Morison as part of the deal that saw Luciano Becchio sign for Norwich.

Striker Morison, 29, has managed just one goal in seven outings for Leeds.

But Warnock reckons the frontman is pulling his weight by creating chances for his team-mates.

He said: "Morison has been criticised, or so I was told, but people don’t really see what a player like him does.

"How many chances has Morison created for other people and how many chances have we had recently?"

Warnock now wants Morison to inspire Leeds to a late bid for the play-offs.

Leeds are only two wins behind sixth placed Brighton with 11 games left.

"We still feel like we’ve got a chance and we’re not going to give it up without a big fight," he added. "We’ll go right to the death.

"We’re playing well both home and away so let’s give it a shot.

"That’s all I’ve said to the players - give me a great end-of-season run."
