Ludovic Sylvestre Still Waiting On Deal Talks

Ludovic Sylvestre scored a sensational goal to secure Blackpool's Championship future – but admits it may not be enough to secure him a new deal.

The French midfielder crashed home a 30-yard clincher to move the Seasiders five points clear of the drop zone by beating Burnley 1-0.

And with nine teams between them and the relegation spots, it should be enough to ensure Paul Ince's side are safe.

That means the Seasiders boss can stop worrying about the drop and concentrate out on sorting out contracts for next season.

And with Sylvestre one of 36 players whose future is up in the air, the classy ball playmaker fears he could get the axe.

He said: “I would like to stay here but nothing has been said yet. I have to have a discussion with the manager and my agent.”

Netting his second in two games is going to help Sylvestre's cause when Ince finally sits down to work his way through the myriad of deals that need sorting out.

He scored in the 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest last week and his latest strike, a 30-yard screamer, will certainly leave many at Bloomfield Road scratching their heads if he is released.

Not that the modest star, who was snapped up in the club's one and only Premier League season, is likely to boast about it.

He added: “That's two goals in two games. I don't know why that has happened but I don't mind.

“I just shot and thought if it was on target it would go in. It felt good when it left my foot so I was happy.

“It is nice seeing them go in but I am happy even if it comes off my shin.”

Burnley defender Ben Mee concede the Clarets were second best and are now scrambling for one more win to secure their safety.

He said: “It was scrappy. We can't have too many complaints. Their goal was the only moment of quality and they were the better team.

“Now we want to win the next game. We don't want to be looking over our shoulders. We want to finish the season strong because it has been an up and down campaign.”
