Michael Carrick: This Is My Best Season

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick reckons he is playing the best football of his career.

England cap Carrick was last week recognised as one of the star men of the Premier League after being nominated as one of six candidates for the PFA Player of the Year award.

And Carrick, 31, feels he has been in top form this year, playing a key part in orchestrating the Reds' bid for a 20th title that could be sealed against Aston Villa tonight.

He said: "I think this is my best season for Manchester United.

"I've had good spells in the past when I have been very happy with my form.

"Last season I was pleased with how I played.

"But this season I've probably been more consistent and key my level near enough around my top level for a longer period."

Carrick scored his first goal of the campaign in the win at Stoke last weekend.

But his ability to pin teams back with his passing has made him the key man in United's midfield this term.

He is up against red hot favourite Gareth Bale, team-mate Robin van Persie, shamed Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and Chelsea pair, Eden Hazard and Juan Mata for the PFA gong.
