Fernando Torres Is A Loan Target For Valencia

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres is the target of an ambitious loan bid by Spanish side Valencia.

La Liga outfit Valencia are looking for a big name hitman to replace Tottenham target Roberto Soldado.

And they believe Torres, 29, could be available after Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho made it clear he wants to sign
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

The Spanish club are willing to pay a loan fee for Torres, especially once they pull in a fee of £25m from Spurs for Soldado's services.

Valencia finish fifth last season and can offer the former Atletico Madrid man Europa League football if he returns to his native Spain.

And a switch offers him regular football in the spotlight of the Spanish media ahead of next summer's World Cup.

That might be more tempting than staying on at Chelsea and playing a bit-part role under Mourinho.

Torres has scored just 34 goals in 131 matches for Chelsea since joining from Liverpool in January 2011 for a British-record £50m.
